A Vegetarian Afternoon Tea at The Royal Crescent Hotel, Bath.

Can you think of anything more quintessentially British than enjoying a splendid afternoon tea in the Royal Crescent Hotel which is nestled in the heart of historic Bath’s crescent? Unless The Queen and Mr Bean were sat at the adjacent table.

I visited The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa for the first time a few weeks ago with my sister and it’s just as grand and luxurious as one would imagine and I cannot wait to share my wonderful dining experience with you all.

We were promptly lead through the house, into the tranquil gardens and taken into the foyer of The Dower House restaurant where we were offered the choice of eating indoors or choosing one of the many tables outside. Seeing as it was such a beautifully sunny and warm day we opted for the latter. The resident robin even joined us at our table on many occasions throughout our visit. You’d hasten to forget you were in the middle of a beautiful, busy and bustling city as it was just so relaxing and quiet in the grounds of the hotel.

We were seated at our table and handed some menus to choose which type of afternoon tea we’d like and which blend of tea we want to accompany it as well. The Royal Crescent really do cater for everyone with their choices of afternoon teas. First up was the Royal Crescent Afternoon Tea (£37.50 per person) which they say is designed more for those with a savoury palate. The sandwich choices you receive with this are:

  • clarence court egg, smoked cheddar, spring onion and mustard cress.
  • Roast beef with a horseradish mayonnaise and watercress.
  • Corn fed chicken and a basil and lemon hummus.
  • And finally a smoked salmon sandwich with a lemon and chive cream cheese.

The savoury options for this particular afternoon tea are:

  • Smoked salmon toast, smoked paprika, lemon zest and topped with caviar.
  • A bite sized sausage roll topped with a honey and onion seed glaze.
  • Bath chap (which is a cut of pork) with a mustard mayonnaise, pickled radish and sorrel.
  • Cucumber filled with a caraway spiced goats curd and topped with a charcoal emulsion.
  • Saffron and honey yoghurt topped with mackerel tartar and a fennel and red onion salad.

This afternoon tea is then simply finished off with an individual verrine topped with a crescent biscuit, a warm scone, Devonshire clotted cream, strawberry preserve and a bath bun with cinnamon butter.

If you have a sweeter palate or want to opt for the more traditional afternoon tea, the Authentic Afternoon Tea (also £37.50 per person) This offers all the same sandwiches as above but rather than getting a plate of savoury minis you get seasonally changing homemade cakes, pastries and sweet delicacies.

If that’s not all they even offer a children’s Afternoon Tea (£19.50 per child) which I think is the sweetest idea. The thought of a little party of children dressed up in posh frocks and polished shoes having a fancy garden tea party makes even me feel gooey and smiling like the Cheshire cat.

My sister opted for the Royal Crescent Afternoon Tea and I chose to have the vegetarian one with a copious amounts of earl grey to wash it all down with. I really liked that, if you’re having an afternoon tea with someone you don’t necessarily have to have the same one. Makes life a lot smoother for those with dietary requirements as they also cater for those who are vegan or nut/gluten intolerant as well.

The dainty finger sandwiches I had were filled to the brim of these delectable fillings:

  • Avocado, guacamole and mustard leaf.
  • Roast red pepper with a basil and lemon hummus.
  • Cucumber, dill, black pepper and lime
  • And finally it was a little tomato and chutney sandwich.

They were delightful, fresh and different to what you’d usually get with an afternoon tea which I really enjoyed.

The savouries I had included in this afternoon tea were delicious and so different to what I was expecting. Starting from the top item at the back was a bite sized mushroom and truffle sausage roll topped with a honey and onion seed glaze. The depth of flavours from the rich umami flavours from the truffle and mushrooms to the sweet, delectable hit from the honey at the end really finished off this little treat.  To the right of that was a warm truffle, brie and grape tart. Brie and grape is just a marriage made in perfect food heaven, combine that with a warm, buttery pastry and you’ve got yourself this little bite of happiness. Beneath that is a savoury choux bun, something of which I had never tried before and was really intrigued by. It was filled with a mouthwatering tomato, basil and lemon cream making it such a lovely and delicate light bite. Next from that was a thick slice of cucumber, which had been partially hollowed out and filled with a caraway spiced goat’s curd and topped with a charcoal emulsion. This too was something I had come across nor tried before and was eager to try it for myself. It was refreshingly cool and wonderfully unique to something you’d expect to adorn your plate. I loved the addition of the very on trend charcoal emulsion as well. Last but definitely not least was the saffron and honey yoghurt you can see in the glass jar on the plate. The silky smooth yoghurt was topped with feta cheese, ribbons of red onion and a fennel salad. Before I start to sound like a broken record I can honestly say I’ve never tasted anything like the things I tried here. The amber hued yoghurt had the subtle floral flavours of saffron combined with the saltiness of the feta and the tartness of the red onion it was completely sublime. I don’t think I could have wolfed it down any faster!

In between the savoury and sweet tiers we had these delightful lime posset verrine’s topped with a crescent biscuit. It was gorgeously creamy and tangy serving as the perfect palate cleanser.

Now moving onto the pinnacle of an afternoon tea, it’s not complete without scones with jam and clotted cream. Their warm scones were perfect, so you can just tear them in two with your hands. Whether you eat your scones with jam and cream or cream and jam; these’ll go down a treat.

If these are new to you as well they are sweet enriched dough buns, studded with sultanas, sprinkled with sugar and a sugar lump placed in the middle.

As you can see the sugar lump hidden inside the bath bun still remains nearly completely intact. These are perfect with lashings of jam and cream or slathered in cinnamon butter.

I absolutely loved my visit to The Royal Crescent Hotel and am definitely thinking about when I’ll next be returning or even sampling some of their main restaurant menu.

Whistling Down The Wind.

Hello how you diddling? It’s been a little while hasn’t it?! I’ve been stopping and starting with writing on here for too long now for the silliest of all reasons. Either I wasn’t really feeling it, I didn’t like what or I was writing or I kept starting it off by saying ‘Hey Hey’ and that sounded more like Krusty the clown from The Simpsons than it felt like I was being cool and quirky. So hello, how’s that for size?

I’ve neglected this blog and nearly all my social medias recently I think means a proper little chatty catch up post is definitely in order. So settle in grab a cuppa and a slice of something delicious and let’s have a little catchy uppy shall we?

So where on earth do I start…Theresa May resigned from being Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Game Of Thrones came to an end, Britain flopped (as per usual) in Eurovision all in the same month that I had a complete social media purge and deleted Whatsapp, Instagram and Twitter off of my phone and from my life. I’m not saying I hold that much of an impact and my ego is the size of the moon BUT it’s a bit of a coincidence isn’t it just?!

I deleted a few of my socials for a number of reasons really. Firstly, I have literally no storage space on my phone and I value other apps and a plethora of saved memes over me constantly scrolling on Insta like there’s no tomorrow. Secondly, without sounding like a knockoff Marie Kondo, but these apps didn’t spark any joy so why did I really have them? I felt like I was mindlessly clicking on it, almost out of habit, seeing that my life wasn’t nowhere near as good or well put together like others online. I know that with Instagram you only ever see the good aspects of peoples lives; no matter how gratifying it would be to know your favourite fashion blogger or influencer spends all morning cleaning her oven and then eats own brand cheesy beans on toast for tea.

Without all these apps I’ve found that I’ve actually spent a lot less time aimlessly on my phone. God knows how people procrastinated before the telly, internet and social media were invented?! Because of this, I’ve been quite productive in other aspects of my life (apart from on here apparently!) and now I  feel a lot less inclined to post something for the sake of posting, or to keep up with a theme or because I haven’t posted in a few days and I might lose a follower. In the grand scheme of things for me, Life is far too short to worry about tiny, little details like that in my opinion.

I’ve become quite lax, maybe a little bit too much so, with posting on here. Which to be honest makes me quite sad. Blogging used to be one of my favourite pastimes and something I could always rely on lifting me out of a funk and lately it’s felt like a blimmin’ chore more than anything. I’ve questioned whether this whole thing is even for me, whether i’m good enough, whether there’s space for me and this little old blog in this growing community anymore and whether anyone actually even really cares. Then once I got over myself I realised I do this for me. To have my own personal journal online for me to look back on and see how far I’ve come, what I’ve been doing and for you all to judge if you so wish.

But, I’ve been toiling away on loads of new content, which I realise makes me sound like such an arse. Like I’m an actual investigative journalist covering topics of civil war in third world countries not that you’re getting one rambled post about cookies once every three months. Can’t win ’em all. Jokes aside I’d love to be able to write about the former, covering such huge topics and bringing them to light, I honestly don’t think I’d have the brain power or the vocabulary to speak about such subjects in a way. I’ve had a bit of a shake up and rebrand around here so it may look a bit different and some new ideas will be coming out to play as well. Think of me like a hermit crab, the exterior may look a bit different but on the inside it’s still the same old, Ab (salty, crabby and always walking sideways apparently)

I’ve been going through the motions a lot in my own head recently. I’m 24 and I just feel like I haven’t achieved anything of significance in my life so far. Like I didn’t expect I’d have amounted to much but I was hoping my roaring twenties would have been more fulfilling than it has been so far. For all those pop culture vultures out there, do you remember when Gemma Collins was in Big Brother and she exclaimed to Tiffany Pollard ‘This is gonna be a long slog, this life for me’ well I FEEL that.

So rather than sit back, mope around like I’m about to sing the sad song in the prelude in the musical of my life. I’m going to try my best to push myself out of my comfort zones and do things, make memories, create stories and genuinely live my best life. Not just look like I am online. I’ve got a notebook, a very cool leatherbound one and I’ve filled it with everything I hope to do or achieve in life. From big things to little things from finding a career I fall head over heels in love with to learning to drink whisky like a cool girl in a smoky parisian jazz bar. It’s probably not something I’m willing to share online right now mainly cos it might read like the ramblings of a mad woman who just really wants to learn how to ride a pony. But I’m hoping this’ll give me a sparkle and a newfound lease on life.

How To Make Homemade Smartie Cookies.

These sweet snacks used to be my absolute favourite treat when I was younger. After talking to my sister about them recently we discovered you cannot find them ANYWHERE. I looked all over and searched high and low in pretty much every supermarket and online (that’s how desperate I became for my sugary fix) and started to feel like this is the hidden conspiracy item or I was a victim of the Mandela effect; did they even exist? Did I make them up and had been living in a cookie induced lucid dream for years?!

Also, side note, if someone finds these being sold somewhere real soon I’m going to sound like such a weirdo conspiracy theorist aren’t I! If I get a comment from someone saying they bought these in Tescos just a few days ago I’m going to actually go mad. But anyway!

So I made some of my own that I think taste pretty similar to the real deal and how they used to taste but given the fact that it’s been the best part of about 10 years since I remember having one they might not be bang on but they still tasted pretty good so if you fancy making some of your own give this recipe beneath a go.

Ingredients:

  1. 150g softened butter
  2. 150g soft light brown sugar
  3. 75g caster sugar
  4. 1 tsp vanilla extract
  5. 1 large Egg
  6. 250g plain flour
  7. 1 tsp baking powder
  8. A pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg. (optional)
  9. smarties (other sugar shelled chocolates are also available)

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and if you wanna be super organised (unlike me basically) line a baking tray as well.

  • Firstly, combine the softened butter and sugars in a large bowl. The more I’ve gotten into baking over the last few years, I think you actually really notice the difference when using cold butter, room temperature butter or softened in your bakes. By using room temp or softened butter it enables the sugar and butter to mix together a lot quicker and a lot easier. Plus it means you don’t have to have a mini bicep workout in the kitchen. In this recipe I used both white caster sugar and light brown sugar. The addition of the brown sugar gives the bake a darker golden colour and a slightly more fudgy taste.

 

  • Combine the egg and the vanilla extract together then pour into the sugar and butter mixture and stir until fully blended. Even though there’s a lot of sugar in these super sweet cookies by adding the vanilla extract gives the cookies an extra, deeper flavour throughout. Most supermarkets stock extracts or essences in the home baking aisle and if you want to make this recipe your own you could try using different flavourings like almond, coffee, caramel or even a salted caramel essence instead of vanilla.

 

  • Once all the wet ingredients are fully combined sift in the dry ingredients until it’s formed a dough like consistency. I added in the spices in at this point it’s completely optional I only used a small amount as I didn’t want it to overpower the whole thing but I felt that it just added a little something extra.

 

  • Place the dough in the fridge for about 30-40 minutes to let the flavours develop and the dough to harden up.

 

  • I sliced the cookie dough into 1 inch thick circles, rolled it into a ball between my hands and placed on a tray. I then pressed in a handful of smarties into the cookie and then baked for between 10-12 minutes until golden.

Perf with a cup of tea or glass of milk or eating every single one after the other when no is looking…

T’was the Night Before Christmas.

T’was the night before Christmas, and all through the country, dashed irritable shoppers tired and hungry. Every man and their Mother pushed and shoved with their trolley, so much for this being the season to be jolly. When I was a child, Christmas was much more exciting, with the anticipation of Santa bringing presents plus family and loved ones reuniting. The older I’ve gotten the more the festive period makes me wince,from the endless shopping and burgeoning feasts fit for a prince. It makes me sound so selfish, so obnoxious and a bit of a Grinch but I want to treat my loved ones to their own private island but am seriously feeling the pinch. Christmas should be about the presence not the presents around the tree yet here I am stressed about the silly little things that shouldn’t really mean the be all and end all to me. ~ x

So Christmas for a lot of people is seen as such a happy joyous occasion spending time with loved ones, eating and drinking copious amounts of rich, decadent food til you drift off to a drunken snooze in front of the Eastenders Christmas specials. But I can’t lie, this year I have felt the complete opposite of festive and if it wasn’t for the constant reminder on the tv and in shops about Christmas I probably would have been none the wiser!

I just really can’t be dealing with how manic it is at this time of year, how you have to practically hold a black belt in Jiu Jitsu just to manage your way around a TK Maxx throughout the month of December. That you ideally need a car from Wacky Races (always a Penelope Pitstop person if you ask me) to battle for a space in Tesco and the patient of an absolute saint when those relatives ask you those same questions you get every year. Yes I am still single, yes I am *still* a vegetarian and yes my hair is different now but I’m growing out my bangs. Ok now I’m just paraphrasing but you get my drift.

I used to really enjoy the festivities and everything that came along with it but I have been feeling like a right grump in comparison to a lot of people this year. I wish I was feeling it a bit more, giving the fact it is actually Christmas Eve and at the time this goes live in exactly 24 hours the big day will be nearing it’s end. As I get older the thought of all the madness, the craziness when shopping, the fact that someone spend over £850 in my local supermarket, that the shop shelves are nearing on BARE you’d have thought a nuclear apocalypse was on it’s way. God I’m such a misery aren’t I?!

Now, I’m acutely aware that in reality there is far much more to the Christmas period than the buying of gifts or shoppin’ til you droppin’ and I’m probably just feeling it even more so as I’m feeling quite poor and that I wouldn’t be able to indulge others as much as I’d like to. There’s a pressure to show your love and adoration to someone through the gift giving when the bottom line is someone who barely knows you but can exude their wealth could buy you a rolex and someone who cares for you a great deal could write you a thoughtful card that will mean so much more.

So whatever you’re up to this yuletide, on December 25th 2018 I really do hope you have a wonderful one, whether you spend it eating and drinking copious amounts of delicious festive treats, surrounded with your family (even that aunt you don’t really like) or working because as lucky as I am, and the majority are, there are plenty who have to work, or if you don’t celebrate Christmas I hope you have a marvelous day, revelling in the peace and quiet and the one day of the year when the telly has actually quite good things on. But to sum up, you’re all absolutely mint and I hope you have the best day whatever you do. ❤

Redroaster – Brighton.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anywhere like this place in real life before. It felt like I had crossed into a parallel universe where I was actually *IN* Instagram. And heck no I wasn’t complaining, I’ve never felt so cool and on point in my life. The decor inside Redroaster was a cool mix of clean white tiles, golds, coppers and marble textures and delicate hanging plants. It felt edgy, botanical and just really cool. We were lucky enough to be able to sit outside as the weather was glorious even at about 8 or 9 in the morning when we got there.

I ordered a vegetarian shakshuka and an iced coffee and it was delightful. I felt quite smug as I sipped my coffee watching the hustle and bustle of the commuters passing by to their jobs as I had an enjoyable morning breakfast. It was the first time I had a shakshuka and I really liked it. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s a Middle Eastern / North African dish made of a thick, spiced tomato sauce, spiked with onions, peppers and poached eggs. Sounds delicious and savoury right? Beforehand I’d have much preferred to have had a sweet breakfast plate but I must say I think my taste palette is finally growing up a bit.

The one I ordered usually comes with chorizo but I asked for that to be removed or whether the dish was possible to be made more veggie friendly and the waitress and kitchen seemed more than accommodating for that. Jewelled with black olives and edamame beans it gave the skillet a lovely richness and umami flavour. I don’t usually like olives, mainly because the ones I’ve tried have always tasted like they’ve been steeped in salt and I just found the texture quite unpleasant but I think they added a lot of flavour to this dish. On top of that it had very generous handful of crumbly feta decorated over the top. Feta might be my favourite cheese. Contrary to olives, I really love the fresh, saltiness feta holds. It reminds me of summer holidays gorging on Greek salads.

Speckled and freckled with a sprinkling of sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds with two slices of warm, buttery toast for dipping in and serving it up with. This dish is the perfect comfort food. It was full of flavour, but wasn’t too overpowering. Plus I felt so full for the rest of the day too so what more could you want with a brek out?? ALSO did I mention they have their own blend of coffee? The iced coffee I had was LUSH. It was smooth and had citrusy notes so I felt like I didn’t actually need to add any sugar which I would normally do.

Would I go back to Redroaster? Yes. I loved the laidback ambience, the menu contained things that I’d never seen before and that sounded really interesting. Would I order the shakshuka again? Possibly. Nothing against the dish itself I thought it was really nice but there were other things on their menu I’d also like to try. From raspberry croissants to the veggie english breakfast with an avo mousse. They both sound like things I DEFO want to eat/inhale.

Yefsis of Greece – Brighton.

On Wednesday night as I was still suffering from blistergate we really didn’t know where we were going to get from. We were a little walk away from the city centre itself and I was in a bit of pain, like who knew two stupid blisters could cause so much of an issue?! We sat in our hotel room unsure whether to stay in, go out, order a takeaway, call an uber or just try and find somewhere nearby or a skateboard for me. I didn’t want to ruin the evening nor did I want to have to walk in ages in fear of my feet ACTUALLY falling off. So we decided to actually order our own dinners through Deliveroo to the hotel and then we’d walk down to the beach and eat it there. Luckily my pal lent me his shoes and oh my days it felt like I was walking on clouds.

Greek foods is up their as one of my favourite cuisines. I love greek salads, feta cheese, souvlaki and gyros. So after browsing through loads of totally different food places on Deliveroo and Yefsis of Greece took my fancy. It had a wide variety of different foods both snack style options and full meals and I kinddaaaaa wanted to order loads but played it safe and stuck with a halloumi gyros and halloumi fries.

As I was ordering it I totally forgot I was actually having halloumi twice. The Gyros was a warm pita flatbread filled with herb dusted halloumi, diced tomatoes, peppers, onions, chips and a traditional greek tzatziki dressing. Complete carb overload but a) I’m defo not going to judge or turn that down and b) when it tasted that good I’m not going to be counting my syns or macros.Mainly cos they’d be through the roof I’m sure.

IMG_6685 The battered halloumi fries were honestly just as good as they sound but by this point I was kinda cheese’d out if that were even possible?! It had a drizzle of thick greek yoghurt, herbs and pomegranate seeds which I think were definitely needed to give the fries some freshness and tang to it otherwise i’d have found it a bit too rich.

If I was to visit Brighton again for longer I’d want to pay Yefsis a visit and actually visit the restaurant rather than getting takeout. I love the relaxed, chilled way of Mediterranean meal times and would love to visit here for a meze of different dishes and try little bits of Greek delights. I live in a tiny village in the middle of nowhere in Dorset and it’s so difficult to come across places like this that serve authentic dishes outside of their native country.

Sunshine Blogger Award!!!!

I’m not a very good blogger, I either write on here consistently, 3 times a day or nothing for weeks and months at a time. I only own one thing marble and that’s a coaster for my gin and I’ve only ever been able to take one decent flatlay. I’m not really down with all the blogging lingo if you asked me about my DA or my media kit or about the latest blogging drama the best I could give you would be a slightly derpy confused face because I honestly have no clue. But what I do know is that the blogging community can come together at times and be so lovely and supportive. Floating about amongst this community are a number of different awards that fellow bloggers can nominate other bloggers for. I remember on my old blog, my first blog, all those lightyears ago I got nominated for the liebster award (I’m not sure if that’s still a thing??) But oh my goodness I was running around as if I just got nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize and an Oscar all at the same time. I told everyone I came across that little old ME, was a worthy award winner. Get your ballgowns at the ready, lads!!

You can tell amateur dramatics is something I should have pursued. Nevertheless I was and am still so so chuffed to this day if I am lucky enough to get these. Just last week the very lovely, Rosie nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger award. Following her both through her blog and her twitter page I really like how naturally she writes. She posts such lovely, honest things that are so gorgeously engaging to read. She’s such a natural at this whole blogging BIZ!! Favourite quote? ‘Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game’ I remembered this quote ever since the first time I watched A Cinderella Story with Hilary Duff allllllllll those years ago and it stuck with me ever since. It’s a great film. I’m definitely watching that this evening.

What’s your favourite drink? Oooooh depends on the occasion. If I’m having a soft drink it’d be lemonade or the watermelon, peach and raspberry juice from Bills (it is INCRED and will quite possibly change your life). If I’m feeling boujee or going out for drinks something like a nice gin and tonic, or a amaretto sour or a pornstar martini will always get me in the partaaaaay mood. But you also can’t beat a good cup of tea can you?

Dream holiday destination? Morocco.

What’s your favourite ice cream flavour? Ice cream is legit one of my favourite sweet treats I’ve loved it since I was a child and I can’t see it ever changing! I love anything from pistachio, to blackcurrent, to a rich dark chocolate. I think i’ll say chocolate for now.

If you could have an office anywhere in the world where would it be and why? Either in Paris or in Times Square in New York. I’d do absolutely no work as I’d be staring out the window people watching all day but think of all the cool things and interesting people you’d see.

If you could change one decision in your life what would it be? That’s an interesting one. I’m quite content in a lot of the decisions I’ve made really. Maybe it would have been to knuckle down harder during school so I could have achieved a lot better grades. I wasn’t the best at revising and I wish I tried a lot harder. Or maybe I’d change so I’d have a bit of a filter in my head, during arguments I tend to say the first thing that pops into my head. Summer or Winter? Summer.

Why did you start your blog? I wanted to get back into blogging again and found it a really therapeutic way of getting my thoughts and feelings out of my head and projected somewhere. I loved the sense of community and friendship that comes with it. Plus i wanted to get much better at cooking and baking and what better way to document it than on here???

Give a small piece of advice to a new blogger? I’d probably say to stay true to yourself and try not to get caught up with blogging drama often found on Twitter or Instagram. 99.9% of the people in the blogging community are lovely, wonderful, super cool, likeminded people but like anything there can be those few people that try and incite negativity. Pfft I don’t have time for that. You do you hunnaaay.

What word best describes your blog? I’d probably say eclectic.

If you could switch blogs with someone for a day who would it be and why? It’s a close one between Kamilah and Jess. I wish I could write as well as both of them respectively and also kinda wish Jess could come round and cook for me everyday. They are so kind and did I mention they are both really cool. I might be fangirling a little bit over here.

He’s an absolute cheerleader for so many different bloggers and is always RT’ing their work, giving them shoutouts or simply just spending the time chatting away to new people, making them feel welcomed and friendly. Jimmy from Jimmy Et Al. This is my real life buddy. Support him, love him, send him fanmail. He writes from the heart and I appreciate his warmth, his wit and his honesty in his writing. Also he’s my real life pal. So be extra lush for that reason.

Molly from Mollyyrees. She is also someone I know in real life. She is also lovely and her blog makes me want to drive to the airport ASAP and get on the next flight to Barcelona. She’s such a babe and if you don’t find her on her blog you can always find her on twitter catching up with a netflix boxset. Gossip Girl lovers for LIFE.

Tanya from Glam Glitz Gloss.  I wish there were enough words in the English language for me to explain just how FABULOUS this chick is. She’s so kind and thoughtful and also her blog is absolute goals. She’s always up to something exciting and I love her no holds barred attitude towards so many things in life. She’s honestly such an inspiration to me.

Michaela from Mleeek. Michaela is effortlessly cool in that I wish I could steal her wardobe and we could be best friends and go to concerts together and I could quote everything she says on Tumblr type of way. She’s one of the best and her photography is an actual dream.

Danielle from The Preemie Mummy. Danielle is so kind and considerate and her blog posts are such a joy to read. She has such a kind soul and I don’t think I’ve ever seen her say a bad word about anyone. Everyone needs a sprinkling of Danielle in their life!

Kaylea from Will Flirt for Food. Kaylea’s blog is actual real life food porn. From decadent recipes to the most amazing looking food she’s eaten out and about. I love seeing and reading about what she’s got up to on her travels, what she’s seen and more importantly what she ate!

Esther from Esther Wyse Blog.  Esther is the epitome of a sunshine blogger to me. She’s always so positive! She’s so lovely and you can tell she is inside and out through what she puts online. Her post on 24 life lessons she learnt in 24 years gives me LIFE (seen here). Especially the bit about cheese. Nothing goes wrong with extra cheese.

Alicia from Popular is Wrong. Alicia is such a brilliant writer. Everything she pens is heartfelt and thought provoking and I adore the way she writes. I really loved her post about Instagram Envy found just here. It really struck a chord with me and I really would urge anyone who’s a prolific Instagrammer like me to read it and let it sink in.
