Privacy

Hello friends! So you might have noticed things are looking a little bit different around here. I’ve had a bit of a refresh and a shake up for the New Year in an effort to make this site a bit more streamlined and maybe even a bit more profesh. I’d like to think I’ve just about covered everything but if you have any other questions, queries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me!

Here is an outline of data collected by this website – http://www.whatabbiesays.com

What personal information do I collect from people that visit my blog:

Your Name and/or username, email address, IP address and website URL, and non identifiable data such as browser information in order for me to see my website statistics I do not harvest your data but can help to run my site efficiently; and to personalise user experience.

How do I protect your information:

Myself or whatabbiesays.com would never ask for your credit card number or payment details. Your personal information is safely contained behind secured networks only accessible by a very limited number of people who have special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential.

Comments:

When visitors leave comments on my website I collect the data shown in the comment form, the visitors IP address and the browser user agent string to help with spam detection. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. You can choose to be notified for follow-up comments by email and be notified for new posts when you leave a comment, but these things are optional and only you can opt in to these.

Cookies:

Cookies are both delicious sweet snacks AND also small files that a site, or its service provider, transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your web browser (if you allow) that enables the site, or the service provider’s, systems to recognise your browser and capture and remember certain information. Cookies are placed on the device you are viewing the site on and will remember when that device accesses the site. Cookies do not collect personal information but monitor your behaviour whilst browsing. These cookies and the information they collect help improve this site for yourself and future visitors by monitoring traffic of users and success of particular content. You can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can choose to turn off all cookies which can be done through your browser settings.

Third Party Plug Ins:

I have a number of different Third Party plug ins downloaded and used on my site to help things run smoothly. I use the Jetpack App through wordpress to help check my stats and insights. Any visitor comments are checked through an automated spam detection service and if it is your first time commenting on this site it’ll have to wait to be approved.

Do I share data:

I do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer any data or personally identifiable information to outside parties unless required to do so by law or for giveaways where I collaborate with a brand. By entering a giveaway you are consenting to these terms and are therefore happy for your information to be passed on as agreed.

How long do I retain your data:

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely so that I can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. For any users that register on this website the personal information you provide is in your user profile. All users can see, edit or delete their personal information at all times except usernames.
